(Washington, D.C.)—Washington Legal Foundation (WLF) and the Chair of its Legal Policy Advisory Board, Jay B. Stephens, are pleased to announce that Shannen W. Coffin of Steptoe LLP has joined WLF’s advisory board.

Shannen co-chairs Steptoe LLP’s Appeals and Advocacy practice. He frequently represents regulated businesses in trial and appellate courts in matters involving commercial disputes, constitutional and administrative law challenges to government regulatory action. Shannen served as Counsel to the Vice President of the United States from 2005 to 2007 and as Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Federal Programs Branch of the U.S. Justice Department’s Civil Division from 2002 to 2004.

“We are honored to have Shannen join our advisory board,” said WLF Executive Director Glenn G. Lammi. “He is very well versed in the areas of law and policy that WLF works on regularly and has a very keen sense for the intersection of advocacy in the courtroom and consistent, determined education of the legal establishment and the public outside the court.” We look forward to many years of his wise counsel.” Lammi added.

WLF’s Legal Policy Advisory Board is a group of over 40 distinguished professionals from the business, legal, academic, and public-policy communities who serve on a volunteer basis.
