(Washington, D.C.)—Washington Legal Foundation (WLF) and the Chair of its Legal Policy Advisory Board, Jay B. Stephens, are pleased to announce that Lee Mickus, a partner in the Denver, CO office of Evans Fears Schuttert McNulty Mickus, has joined WLF’s advisory board.

Lee defends manufacturers and other business interests in product liability and tort lawsuits around the country, guiding cases through the discovery, trial, and appeal stages. He is deeply involved at the state and national levels in the reform of procedural rules that govern the admissibility of expert evidence in civil trials. Lee co-chairs the Lawyers for Civil Justice Rule 702 Committee, a group that played a prominent role in the recent amendment to the federal standard for expert evidence admissibility and which is seeking similar reforms to state evidence rules. Lee sits on the Board of Directors of the Colorado Civil Justice League and is a member of Defense Research Institute and the International Association of Defense Counsel. He is one of WLF’s most prolific pro bono publication authors, writing on expert evidence and other critical civil-justice issues.

“We are honored that Lee has joined our advisory board,” said WLF Executive Director Glenn G. Lammi. “He is an experienced trial practitioner who has a deep understanding of how judges at every level of the litigation process approach complex legal and policy issues. Lee also shares WLF’s conviction that educating policy makers on the bench and in regulatory agencies is a critical part of shaping a legal environment in which businesses can efficiently plan and effectively defend themselves,” Lammi added.

WLF’s Legal Policy Advisory Board is a group of 40 distinguished professionals from the business, legal, academic, and public-policy communities who serve on a volunteer basis.
