Salazar v. Paramount
On June 30, 2026, WLF urged the Supreme Court to affirm a lower court decision holding that the Video Privacy Protection Act is limited in scope. As WLF’s brief explains, that statute’s definition of “consumer” can’t be read to include Alex Salazar, a subscriber to a free sports newsletter. If the VPPA reaches Salazar, it would turn the VPPA into a serious restriction on targeted advertising—a beneficial practice that helps both buyers and sellers. WLF was joined on the brief by TechFreedom.
