After having issued a sparse number of written decisions, the justices face another 29 arguments and the drafting of numerous highly consequential opinions. Our panelists will discuss several outcomes from October Term 2024’s first half and preview second half with a focus on cases that impact free enterprise, economic liberties and the separation of powers.

  • Barbara is a partner in the St. Louis, MO office of Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP and co-chair of the firm's Appellate and Supreme Court Group. She practices at all levels of the federal and state courts. Barbara has represented clients filing petitions for certiorari, opposing certiorari, and she has filed merits briefs. She has also represented amici at the certiorari and merits stages. She served as a law clerk to Associate Justice Samuel A. Alito and to U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit Judge Thomas B. Griffith. Barbara also served in the White House Counsel's office during George W. Bush's presidency.

  • Katie is a partner with Lehotsky Keller Cohn LLP in Denver, CO. She is an experienced litigator focusing on complex commercial litigation at the trial and appellate levels in state and federal courts. Katie previously practiced as a trial and appellate litigator at the law firms of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP and Wheeler Trigg O’Donnell LLP where she represented clients across a wide array of industry sectors. She served as a law clerk to Associate Justice Clarence Thomas; Colorado Supreme Court Justice Allison H. Eid; and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit Judge Neil M. Gorsuch.

  • Luke is a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Williams & Connolly LLP. He is an experienced appellate advocate, presenting arguments before the U.S. Supreme Court three times and in multiple federal courts of appeals, and has filed dozens of briefs in high-stakes cases throughout the federal system. He has served as a law clerk to Associate Justice Sonya Sotomayor; U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh; and Fourth Circuit Judge Paul V. Niemeyer. In 2023, Luke left the firm to serve as Assistant to the Solicitor General at the Department of Justice.
