On June 17, 2024, the Supreme Court declined to hear an important arbitration case. This was disappointing for WLF, which filed an amicus brief supporting the petition. The California Court of Appeal held that it was “not bound” by the U.S. Supreme Court’s Viking River decision, which addressed how to handle claims brought under California’s Private Attorney General Act. WLF’s brief explained that this was yet another in a long line of cases in which California courts have ignored the Federal Arbitration Act. WLF’s brief also detailed how the Court of Appeal’s decision here and the California Supreme Court’s decision in Adolph v. Uber directly conflict with Viking River.
