Description:
As courts around the country begin to open back up, judges are facing increasing pressure to get through the backlog of cases caused by pandemic-related shutdowns. To do so, many courts are relying on reforms that were hastily adopted in the name of efficiency and public health, most often without the opportunity for meaningful debate or study. Our speakers will identify the changes that have imperiled significant rights of litigants, and discuss how litigants can most effectively challenge those impairments now and in the future.

Speakers' Biographies

Wendy Lumish

Wendy is Managing Partner of Bowman and Brooke LLP's Miami, FL office and also leads the firm's Appellate and Advance Motions practice group. Her primary focus is on legal issues and appeals in defending product liability, personal injury and medical malpractice cases. Wendy has been a member of the Product Liability Advisory Committee (PLAC) for over 20 years and is also active with Lawyers for Civil Justice, the Defense Research Institute, and is a Fellow with the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers.

Amanda Heitz

Amanda is a Partner in Bowman & Brooke LLP's Phoenix, AZ office, focusing her practice on defense of product liability and class actions, including at trial, as well as advanced motion and appellate litigation. She is a member of the Defense Research Institute and the Arizona Association of Defense Counsel and serves on Bowman and Brooke’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
