John P. Elwood is a Partner in the Appellate practice group of Vinson & Elkins LLP. He has argued nine cases before the U.S. Supreme Court and before most federal courts of appeals. He has briefed and argued cases involving environmental law, the False Claims Act, administrative law, government contracting, and federal criminal law. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Elwood was an Assistant to the Solicitor General of the United States and the senior Deputy in the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel. He writes the Relist Watch column for SCOTUSblog.

Mr. Kimberly has argued appeals in courts throughout the country, including three times in the U.S. Supreme Court, three times before the en banc courts of appeals, and numerous other times before three-judge appeals court panels. He co-directs the Yale Law School Supreme Court Clinic and served as a law clerk for U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit Judge Michael Daly Hawkins.
