The California Supreme Court announced on June 13, 2003, that it will let stand a class action settlement in which the plaintiffs' lawyers are to receive $16 million in fees, while consumers -- their purported clients -- will receive nothing. The Washington Legal Foundation had filed a brief in the court in support of a group of objecting class members. WLF's brief argued that the settlement violated California class action law.
