Mark A. Perry is a Partner with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP and Co-Chair of the Firm’s nationwide Appellate and Constitutional Law Practice Group. His practice focuses on complex commercial litigation at both the trial and appellate levels. He has special expertise in class actions, and teaches the upper-level course in Class Action Law and Practice at Georgetown University Law Center. Before joining the firm, Mr. Perry served as a law clerk to Justice Sandra Day O’Connor of the Supreme Court of the United States, and to Judge Alex Kozinski of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Her practice focuses on appellate litigation in the U.S. Supreme Court and the federal courts of appeals, as well as district court litigation and client counseling in matters raising complex legal questions. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Carroll served as a law clerk to Associate Justice David H. Souter of the US Supreme Court. Previously, she clerked for The Honorable Harry T. Edwards of the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
More about speakerKevin D. McDonald recently retired from the Washington office of Jones Day, which he joined in 1980 following a clerkship with the Hon. Joseph P. Kinneary of the Southern District of Ohio. He served for four years as the Editorial Chair of the Antitrust Law Journal, and remains a Senior Editor. He has authored dozens of articles on antitrust, including Antitrust and Baseball: Stealing Holmes for the Journal of Supreme Court History. In 2005, he authored the ABA’s amicus brief before the Supreme Court in Independent Ink v. Illinois Tool Works.
Amy L. Howe is the Editor of Howe on the Court and is an independent contractor and reporter for SCOTUSblog, a site for which she was previously Editor. Before turning to full-time blogging, Ms. Howe served as counsel in over two dozen merits cases at the U.S. Supreme Court and argued two cases there; she has also argued in the District of Columbia and Fourth Circuits. From 2004 until 2011, she co-taught Supreme Court litigation at Stanford Law School; from 2005 until 2013, she co-taught a similar class at Harvard Law School. Ms. Howe has also served as an adjunct professor at American University’s Washington College of Law and Vanderbilt Law School.
