Case Detail

Snyder v. Rosales-Garcia
On June 23, 2003, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to review a lower-court decision that could result in the release from detention of more than 1,100 illegal aliens convicted of violent crimes. The decision was a setback for WLF, which filed a brief urging review. WLF argued that society's interest in being protected from violent criminals far outweighs any interest that illegal aliens may have in being free from detention during the time it takes to arrange their deportation. The case involves two Cubans who came to this country illegally as part of the Mariel boatlift in 1980 and have since been convicted on numerous occasions of violent felonies
Case Status:
Review denied.
